Bedding and Linens

  • Sleeping bags
  • Pillows
  • Sheets
  • Blankets

Bedding and linens ensure a comfortable night’s sleep. For convenience, some people use sleeping bags as bedding in their RV. A good sleeping bag provides warmth on cool nights.

If you want to up your sleeping game, bring sheets and blankets instead. That way, you can add additional layers when it’s cold outside and remove layers during warmer weather.

If you really want to up your game, get Beddys. Beddys are an all-in-one, on-piece sleeping system. It’s like a sleeping bag, in that it has a zipper, but also like regular bedding. Since it’s one piece, you put it on the bed and you’re done! Beddys only come in regular bed sizes though.

In one of our trailers, we have an XL full mattress, but we bought the Beddys for a full-sized mattress. When we talked to Beddys, they said it’s the width that’s important so the zippers line up.

When choosing bedding and linens, consider the size and type of your RV bed, as well as the weather conditions you will be camping in, to ensure you have the right gear for a good night’s sleep. Don’t forget to pack extra sheets and blankets in case of any accidents or spills.

And, don’t forget your pillow! You’ll want a comfortable pillow for a good night’s sleep.

Cooking Equipment

  • Stove
  • Grill
  • Pots and pans
  • Utensils
  • Cooler or refrigerator
  • Dishes
  • Silverware
  • Dish soap
  • Sponges
  • Towels
  • Cutting boards
  • Can opener

When you’re going on an RV adventure, it’s important to bring the right cooking equipment to make delicious meals. And as I mentioned in the article that I wrote, preparing your own meals WILL save you money over eating out.

You’ll want to have a variety of pots and pans in different sizes, as well as a good set of utensils like spatulas and cooking spoons. Don’t forget to bring a set of dishes and silverware as well.

One essential piece of cooking equipment for RVs is a portable grill. A propane grill is a great option, as it’s easy to set up and use. You can also bring a portable stove if your camper doesn’t have one or a hot plate if you prefer to cook indoors. Make sure to bring plenty of propane or fuel for your cooking equipment.

Another important consideration is storage. RV kitchens can be tight on space, so it’s important to have compact and stackable cookware that won’t take up too much room. Consider investing in collapsible silicone bowls and measuring cups, as well as nesting pots and pans.

We bought the Magma Cookware Set. It’s pricy, but you can also use it on an induction cooktop. I also got the Sea to Summit X-Pot Collapsible Camping CookPot for Christmas. I love this for the compact space that I have in our Casita Trailer because it doesn’t take up much room.

Don’t forget about cleaning up after your meals! Bring plenty of dish soap, sponges, and towels to keep your dishes and cookware clean. You may also want to bring a portable dishwashing station or a collapsible dish rack to make cleanup easier. We’ve been liking this dish rack. It folds up nicely.

You’ll definitely need a camping stove or grill as a way to cook food your food.

Pots and pans, and utensils are also useful for cooking. In addition, bring cutting boards, can openers, and other kitchen essentials to make food preparation easier.

Outdoor Recreation Gear

  • Tent
  • Bicycles
  • Fishing gear
  • Camping chairs

When you’re on an RV adventure, you’ll likely want to spend some time outdoors enjoying recreational activities. Here are some pieces of outdoor recreation gear that you might want to consider bringing along:

First and foremost, you’ll want to bring a good set of outdoor chairs and a table. Look for lightweight and foldable chairs that are easy to transport and set up. I absolutely love these small collapsable chairs because they don’t take up much room. If you like larger, more comfortable chairs and you have the space, I recommend these GCI rockers. My husband, Doug, bought me one for my birthday and I’m always happy when we have the space to bring it.

A small, collapsible table is also a great addition to your outdoor setup. We have two collapsible tables. We’ve had the end table, a GSI Compact Camp Table, for a long time. I think it’s the best thing since sliced bread. Doug and I put it between our chairs to set drinks on or even our dinner plates.

If you need a larger table, like a dinner table, Doug bought the Camp King table. For a table this size, it’s ridiculously compact. Our friends were so impressed by these tables they bought one of each.

If you enjoy fishing, it’s important to bring the right gear on your RV adventure. First, you’ll want to bring a fishing rod and reel that are suitable for the type of fishing you’ll be doing. Look for a compact and lightweight rod that can be easily transported. You’ll also need to bring fishing line, hooks, sinkers, and lures.

It’s a good idea to bring a variety of sizes and types of lures to increase your chances of catching fish. Finally, don’t forget to bring a fishing license if required in the area where you’ll be fishing. With the right gear, you can enjoy a day of fishing and maybe even catch dinner for the evening.

If you plan on hiking or exploring the wilderness, you’ll want to have a good set of hiking boots, as well as a backpack to carry your supplies. Don’t forget to bring a good pair of binoculars and a camera to capture the stunning views.

If you’re a fan of water sports, you may want to bring along a kayak or a stand-up paddleboard. These can be strapped to the roof of your RV for easy transport. Alternatively, you can rent equipment from a local outfitter or campground.

Finally, don’t forget about safety gear. If you plan on biking, rollerblading, or skateboarding, be sure to wear a helmet. You may also want to bring along a first aid kit in case of any injuries.

First Aid Supplies

  • Basic first aid kit
  • Insect repellent
  • Sunblock
  • Fire Extinguisher
  • Roadside emergency kit

Anything can happen when you’re on an RV road trip. It’s important to be prepared for any accidents or injuries that may occur. Here are some first-aid supplies that you should consider bringing along:

First, make sure you have a well-stocked first aid kit. This should include bandages, gauze, adhesive tape, antiseptic wipes, and scissors. You may also want to include items such as pain relievers, antihistamines, and anti-diarrheal medication.

In addition to a first aid kit, consider bringing along a few other items for emergencies. A fire extinguisher is a must-have in case of a cooking fire. A roadside emergency kit can also be helpful in case of a breakdown on the road.

Insect repellent is another important item to bring on your RV adventure. Mosquitoes, ticks, and other biting insects can be common in many outdoor areas. To protect yourself and your travel companions, make sure to pack a good quality insect repellent.

Look for a repellent that contains DEET or another effective active ingredient. You may also want to bring mosquito netting to cover your RV’s windows and doors. If you’re camping in an area with a high risk of ticks, consider wearing long sleeves and pants and doing regular tick checks.

Another essential item to bring on your RV trip is sunscreen. The sun’s rays can be strong, especially in areas with high altitudes or near water. Make sure to pack sunscreen with a high SPF rating to protect your skin from harmful UV rays.

Look for a broad-spectrum sunscreen that protects against both UVA and UVB rays. You may also want to bring a lip balm with SPF protection to protect your lips. Apply sunscreen liberally and frequently, especially if you’re spending a lot of time outdoors.

An emergency roadside kit is a must-have for any RV adventure. If you experience a breakdown or other emergency while on the road, having the right supplies can help you stay safe and get back on the road quickly. Your roadside emergency kit should include items such as jumper cables, a tire gauge, a tire repair kit, a flashlight, and extra batteries.

You may also want to include a reflective vest, road flares, and a first aid kit. It’s also a good idea to have a basic set of tools on hand in case you need to make repairs. Before you hit the road, make sure your emergency kit is fully stocked and easily accessible. With the right supplies, you can stay safe and prepared for any situation that may arise during your RV adventure.

Finally, don’t forget about any prescription medications that you or your travel companions may need. Make sure you have enough medication to last the duration of your trip and keep it in a cool, dry place.

Lighting

  • Portable lanterns or flashlights
  • Headlamps
  • String lighting
  • Extra batteries

Camp lighting is an important aspect of any RV trip, as it can help you enjoy your time outdoors even after the sun goes down. There are many different types of camp lighting to choose from, including lanterns, string lights, and spotlights.

Lanterns are a popular choice for their portability and versatility. Look for lanterns with adjustable brightness levels and long battery life.

Headlamps are a popular and versatile lighting option for RVers who enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, and camping. These small, lightweight lights strap onto your head or hat, leaving your hands free for other tasks.

Look for headlamps with adjustable brightness levels and beam distance, as well as a comfortable and adjustable strap. Some headlamps even come with a red-light mode, which can help preserve your night vision. Make sure to bring extra batteries or a portable charger to keep your headlamp powered up during your RV adventure.

String lights are another great option for creating a cozy atmosphere around your campsite.

Solar-powered lights can be a good eco-friendly choice for RVers who want to reduce their energy use. Finally, make sure to bring extra batteries or a backup power source in case your lights run out of juice. With the right camp lighting, you can create a warm and inviting space for your RV adventure.

Sanitation and Hygiene

  • Trash bags
  • Portable toilet
  • Tank sanitizers
  • Toilet paper
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Toiletries

Sanitation and hygiene are important considerations for any RV adventure, as you’ll be spending extended periods of time in a small space.

Trash bags are a must-have item for any RV, as they can help keep your space clean and organized. Look for sturdy trash bags that can handle the weight and volume of your trash.

If your RV doesn’t have a built-in toilet, a portable toilet can be a convenient and hygienic option for your RV adventure. These toilets come in a variety of styles and sizes, ranging from simple bucket-style toilets to more complex flushing toilets. It’s also a good idea to bring along RV toilet paper.

If you’re interested in exploring portable toilets, read this article I wrote.

RV tank sanitizer is an important item to have for any RV trip, as it can help ensure that your RV’s water system is clean and free of harmful bacteria. Over time, your RV’s water tanks and lines can become contaminated with bacteria, mold, and other harmful microorganisms, which can cause health problems if left untreated.

You’ll want to bring along items such as hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, and trash bags to help keep your RV clean and tidy. Make sure to regularly clean surfaces that are frequently touched, such as doorknobs, handles, and countertops.

Finally, make sure to bring along plenty of personal hygiene items such as toothpaste, shampoo, and deodorant, and dispose of any waste properly to help keep your RV and the surrounding area clean.

Entertainment

  • Books
  • Games
  • Music
  • Other leisure items

Books can be a great source of entertainment on your RV adventure, whether you prefer novels, non-fiction, or guidebooks. Bring along a few of your favorite books to read during downtime or while relaxing outside.

Games are another great option for RV entertainment, and there are many options to choose from. Board games, card games, and outdoor games like cornhole or ladder toss can provide hours of fun for the whole family.

Music is a must-have item for any RV adventure, whether you prefer to listen to the radio, your favorite CDs, or streaming services like Spotify or Pandora. Make sure to bring along a portable speaker or a good set of headphones to enjoy your music without disturbing your neighbors.

Other leisure items can also enhance your RV experience, depending on your interests. For example, if you enjoy photography, bring along your camera and extra batteries to capture the beautiful scenery. If you like to exercise, consider bringing along a set of resistance bands or a yoga mat. And if you enjoy bird watching, bring along a pair of binoculars to get a closer look at the local wildlife.

Power and Charging Supplies

Jackery Solar Panel
  • Solar panels
  • Solar or Gas Powered Generators
  • Extension cords
  • Charging cables and adapters

Power and charging supplies are essential for any RV adventure, as they allow you to stay connected and powered up while on the road. Solar generators and panels are a great option for eco-conscious RVers, as they allow you to harness the power of the sun to charge your RV’s batteries. We have the Jackery 1000 and the Jackery Solar Panels. The Jackery 1000 runs my hair dryer and my Keurig-style coffee maker (but not at the same time.)

Gas-powered generators are another option for RV power, particularly if you plan to do a lot of boondocking or dry camping. These generators can provide a reliable source of power for your RV appliances and electronics. We have the Honda 2200i Companion Generator and it works great!

Extension cords are a must-have item for any RV adventure, as they allow you to plug in your RV to an electrical source at your campsite or RV park.

Charging cables and adapters are also important for RV power and charging. Make sure to bring along charging cables for all of your electronics, including phones, tablets, laptops, and cameras.

Water and Wastewater Supplies

  • Portable water containers
  • Hoses
  • Water filter

When planning for your RV adventure, water and wastewater supplies are a crucial consideration. You’ll need to bring along portable water containers to store fresh water and hoses for filling up your RV’s tank. Since we have such a small freshwater tank in our RV, we carry two of the 7-gallon Reliance Aquatainers. We use the Camco Water Tank Filler. That makes it a lot easier to get the water into the RV tank from the Aquatainers.

When we have hookups we use our Camco TastePURE Drinking Water Hose when we have hookups.

We also use the Camco Water Bandit to fill up at campground faucets.

Additionally, a water filter can help ensure that the water you’re using is clean and safe for consumption. We like the Camco TastePure water filter.

Clothing and Footwear

  • Weather-appropriate clothing
  • Waterproof jackets, hats, and gloves

When it comes to clothing and footwear for your RV adventure, it’s important to pack for the weather and climate you’ll be experiencing. Make sure to bring a variety of weather-appropriate clothing, including warm layers for cooler temperatures and lighter clothing for warmer days. Consider packing clothing made from breathable and moisture-wicking materials to stay comfortable during physical activities.

Waterproof jackets, hats, and gloves are also essential items for any RV adventure, particularly if you’ll be spending time outdoors in wet or rainy conditions. Look for high-quality waterproof gear that is both breathable and durable, and make sure to pack enough layers to stay warm and dry in a variety of weather conditions.

For footwear, consider packing a variety of options to suit different activities and terrains. Hiking boots are a must-have for any outdoor adventures, while sandals or water shoes can be great for beach days or water activities. Make sure to pack comfortable walking shoes for exploring new areas, and don’t forget to bring along extra socks to keep your feet dry and comfortable.

Safety Equipment

  • Smoke detectors
  • Fire extinguisher
  • Carbon monoxide detectors

Before hitting the road, it’s important to make sure your RV is equipped with all the necessary vehicle supplies to keep it running smoothly. Make sure to pack a spare tire and jack in case of a flat tire, and make sure you know how to change a tire if needed. You should also consider bringing along a tire pressure gauge and an air compressor to ensure your tires are properly inflated.

It’s also important to bring along a basic set of tools in case of any minor repairs or adjustments that need to be made on the road. Consider packing a wrench set, pliers, a screwdriver set, and other essential tools. You may also want to bring along a can of WD-40 or other lubricants to keep things running smoothly.

Finally, make sure to pack extra oil, coolant, and other fluids for your RV, as well as a funnel and a container for used fluids. It’s important to check your RV’s fluid levels regularly and top them up as needed to prevent any mechanical issues on the road.

Shelter or shade

  • Additional shelter or shade

When you’re camping in your RV, it’s important to have a comfortable outdoor space to relax in. Consider bringing along some shelter or shade options to create a cozy outdoor living area.

You can set up a simple canopy or pop-up tent to provide shade on sunny days or invest in a larger screened-in room for more protection from bugs and other pests. I really like our Gazelle Gazabo.

Another option for shelter and shade is to invest in a retractable awning or sunshade that attaches directly to your RV. These can be a bit more expensive, but they provide a convenient and reliable solution for creating a comfortable outdoor space no matter where you go.
