If you’re in the market for a Class A motorhome, what factors are you paying attention to the most? Perhaps price, build quality, or amenities. Reliability should also be a chief concern to ensure your vehicle has the longevity to justify its cost. Which Class A RV is the most reliable?

Many Class A motorhomes are beloved for their reliability, including:

  • Entegra Coach Cornerstone
  • Fleetwood RV Bounder 35K
  • American Coach American Tradition
  • Coachmen Pursuit 29XPS
  • Newmar Kountry Star
  • Tiffin Allegro Red

This guide will delve into the qualities a dependable Class A RV has and then talk more about these exceptional motorhomes and why they embody those traits so well. Make sure you read this before you buy your next motorhome!

What Makes a Class A Motorhome Reliable?

Class A motorhomes are the largest of the three classes and also the most expensive. If you’re going to spend $50,000 to $150,000 for a vehicle, you must ensure the model you choose is as dependable as they come.

So what exactly makes a Class A reliable for adventures with family and friends? Here’s an overview.

Build Quality

As the strongest of the three classes, a Class A motorhome has a heavy-duty frame built from a commercial vehicle chassis. Featuring stainless steel, aluminum, multilayered wooden framing, residential vinyl, and carbon fiber, the construction of these vehicles is top-notch.

You can feel confident when on the road driving a Class A since you know it can stand up to the rigors of long-term travel.

Mileage

RVs don’t have the best mileage, and the bigger they get, the truer that is. However, Class As begin at 25 feet, with some up to 45 feet long. Smaller Class A motorhomes will have slightly better mileage, at least in their class.

Amenities

The size of a Class A motorhome affords it the most room for amenities. You’ll have the most clearly defined “rooms” of all the three RV classes, with a living area, dining space, kitchen nook, bathroom, and possibly even more than one bedroom alcove.

All the high-end features you’re interested in are at your fingertips, from built-in televisions to outdoor kitchens and showers, fireplaces, luxurious textiles, blackout curtains, roller shades, and more.

Comfort and Space

The size of a Class A is great from an amenity perspective, but it also increases passenger comfort.

The spaciousness will allow you to bring the most guests, and better yet, each will feel like they have their own private area without someone breathing down their neck.

Many Class A RVs even feature expandable slide-outs to further maximize the available room. The slide-outs also increase privacy among guests.

Standard Maintenance

Every motorhome requires maintenance, even the almighty Class A. However, while you’re still in the browsing stage, you should ascertain that the vehicle you choose requires only a standard amount of maintenance.

This will prevent expensive repairs down the line that can cause you to spend close to the original value of your vehicle or more.

Customer Support

The most reliable Class A RVs on the market have excellent customer support. You can count on the manufacturer’s customer service if you find yourself in a bind or experience issues with your vehicle.

If your motorhome is covered under a warranty, you can possibly get parts replaced for free so your vehicle runs as good as new again.

The 6 Most Reliable Class A Motorhomes

Now that you better understand the makeup of a reliable Class A motorhome, which vehicles on the market fit the bill? I found six exceptional vehicles worthy of consideration as you explore new Class As.

Let’s dive right in.

1. Tiffin Allegro Red

One of the most dependable Class A motorhome on the list is the Tiffin Allegro Breeze.

This vehicle sports a powerful 380 HP Cummins L9 Diesel Engine that complements its Freightliner® XCM Modular Rail Rear Engine Diesel Chassis. Accompanying this powerhouse of a motorhome is the Allison® 3000 MH 6-speed Automatic Transmission.

Select from five exterior paint options that will turn heads wherever you take the Allegro Red. Interior décor for flooring, pillows, leather surfaces, cabinetry, counters, backsplashes, and bedspreads lets you have a hand in how your motorhome looks.

The Allegro Red promises ongoing customer support, one year of coach roadside assistance, 12,000 miles or a one-year limited warranty, 50,000 miles or a five-year delamination limited warranty, and 50,000 miles or a 10-year unitized construction limited warranty.

My favorite of the three floor plans offers a spacious dry bath and walk-around queen bed. This gives way to a massive living space. Like watching TV? This motorhome sports a whopping four TVs including a TV for outdoor viewing – grab your popcorn.

Relax near in the fireplace on an air-coiled spring sofa while watching a flat-panel television above the dinette that converts into an additional bed.

Across from the recliner is the kitchen, which has a dual sink, counter space, overhead storage, a burner stove, a residential fridge, and a microwave.

2. Entegra Coach Cornerstone

The latest Entegra Coach Cornerstone is the 2024 model, but older Class As under this line are just as good if you don’t mind going used.

This vehicle is the pinnacle of excellence. While that’s not needed to make a reliable Class A motorhome, it certainly doesn’t hurt!

The Cornerstone handles like a dream, and it’s exceptionally quiet so everyone can have sweeter dreams, even when driving at night. The Crown Compass furniture is gorgeously high-end and classy, creating an atmosphere you might wish to live in full-time (if you don’t already).

An included VegaTouch touchscreen makes it easy to access all the entertainment and navigation menus you seek, and its 10-inch screen is large enough that you can easily see the menus by day or night.

That touchscreen accompanies the vehicle’s digital dashboard, which is even larger at 15 inches, and allows you to park easier with an integrated 360-degree camera.

Dual-zone heating and cooling keep you comfortable, an air-leveling system will allow your RV fridge to run without issue, and adaptive cruise control enables easier driving on those long, boring stretches of road.

The cruise control system even includes blind spot monitoring and collision mitigation for safer driving.

The Cornerstone utilizes a Spartan K3 chassis and offers E-Z steer power steering assist and a 605-HP engine from Cummins.

Select from five fabulous floor plans and custom exterior graphics for any. You can also choose from a rich array of décor options.

The Entegra Coach Cornerstone is covered under a three-year roadside assistance and a two-year warranty.

3. Fleetwood RV Bounder 35K

fleetwood bounder

Fleetwood RV is one of those brands that needs no introduction, and its Class A model, Bounder, is equally as famous. This vehicle is one of the manufacturer’s top sellers.

The 2023 model is the most impressive from Fleetwood yet. They upgraded the model and revamped the exterior graphics to be more attention-grabbing and appealing than ever.

What kinds of differences can you expect between the 2023 edition and past takes of the Bounder? The Adap-table dinette is brand-new and includes a pop-up television for some entertainment with dinner.

The Tarkett flooring is mud-resistant and waterproof. You hope you’ll never have to test the flooring’s waterproofing prowess, but if push came to shove, your vehicle would be okay.

The inclusion of MCD dual shades is ideal for creating privacy, setting the mood, and preventing the sunlight from overheating your RV. After all, it’s good to give your air conditioning a break sometimes!

The Bounder is available in four configurations, but my favorite floor plan is the 35K. It includes a Rest EZ dinette and a jackknife sofa in the living/dining area. The kitchen boasts a three-burner cooktop, residential fridge, convection microwave, full counter, and double sink.

Create an inviting atmosphere with a fireplace and LED TV, then step into one of two bathrooms. The first has only a toilet and sink, but the one in the back offers a 35-inch by 41-inch shower.

The oversized bedroom includes a Serenity Series king-sized bed that’s 72 inches by 75 inches, an LED TV, dual wardrobes, and a dresser. It’s the perfect refuge after a long day.

4. American Coach American Tradition

American Coach Tradition

American Coach calls the American Tradition “the embodiment of excellence,” and honestly, I couldn’t have said it better myself. This is another luxury Class A that’s dependable, durable, and reliable. It’s the perfect pick for this list!

The Cummins ISX turbocharged engine is one of the best on the market from this manufacturer, so you can count on your engine to take you on all your adventures (with care and maintenance in between, of course).

King-sized beds in the bedroom nooks are the kind of thing that only Class A RVs can fit. Sofa sleepers and other sleeping quarters let the kids or your buddies have their own private places to rest without feeling on top of all the other passengers in the vehicle.

The full-sized bathroom includes a tile backsplash and side-by-side sinks. This spacious lavatory rivals the bathrooms in some homes.

Driving safely comes naturally in the American Tradition, which features a RoadWatch Safety System with Mobileye integration, built-in traction options, and collision mitigation for your safest road trips yet.

ZF independent front suspension, DriveTech, BrakeSync V-Ride, and an UltraSteer steering system also give you more peace of mind behind the wheel.

Its durable fiberglass roof, XCM Freightliner chassis, and slide-outs with flush door slides make this vehicle as hard-built as it is dependable.

Decorate your American Tradition your way with customizable exterior graphics and interior options like décor and cabinetry. You can select from four floor plans.

5. Coachmen Pursuit 29XPS

One of the best Class A motorhomes is the Coachmen Pursuit. This dazzling RV is a great choice no matter which floor plan you select, but I’m impartial to the 29XPS.

This 16,000-pound, 31-foot behemoth has the space to bring your favorite people. The driver’s cockpit has a drop-down overhead bunk for sleeping a few people, and the 63-inch sofa is yet another restful option.

The living and dining area features a 42-inch by 72-inch Dream dinette with an LED television affixed to the wall.  You’ll have cozier, more memorable meals when relaxing in this part of the vehicle.

The full-sized kitchen has overhead storage, a microwave, a three-burner stove, counter space, a dual sink, a fridge, and pantry space.

Soothe the senses in a 24-inch by 32-inch shower, across from which you’ll find a toilet, sink, and linen closet.

The back of the vehicle is your domain, as that’s where you’ll find the 60-inch by 74-inch queen-sized bed, dual wardrobes, and overhead storage.

The Ford F53 7.3-liter V8 chassis that is the skeleton of this Class A is built to last, and safety features such as traction control, cruise control, a telescoping tilt steering wheel, and intermittent wipers promote your safety.

6. Newmar Kountry Star

The 2024 Newman Kountry Star is a Class A diesel motor coach. Its Belfast exterior with the Masterpiece full-paint finish will turn heads, while its Freightliner XCR chassis, capable of achieving 800 pounds-feet of torque and 360 HP, is about as heavy-duty and reliable as they come.

This Class A features a Cummins ISB engine, a chassis battery disconnect, an anti-lock braking system, a telescopic and manual tilt steering wheel (with a VIP smart wheel), cruise control, and a Comfort Drive steering system.

The interior amazes with quality materials through and through, from Ultralux seating to soft-close cabinet drawers and Calypso glazed maple cabinetry with a matte finish.

Luxury features such as a fireplace, LED television, dashboard radio, and entertainment center make spending hours in your vehicle a delight.

Pick from eight efficient floor plans that start at 34 through 40 feet.

Conclusion

Class A motorhomes are a reliable choice, as they’re high-quality, built to last, and generously sized. Many of your favorite names in RVs produce some of the most dependable Class As on the road today. I hope you consider one for your adventures!
