Do Casita Trailers Have Bathrooms?

Having the comfort of a bathroom in a travel trailer is high on most people’s list of requirements. You may be wondering, “Do Casita travel trailers have bathrooms?”

You can order a Casita trailer with a bathroom. Only the Casita Dexlue comes with a bathroom. The “standard” Casita does not come with a bathroom. Instead, the standard Casita comes with bunk beds that hold up to 100 lbs each, along with some additional storage. Let’s talk about the Casita trailer bathroom.

Bathroom Amenities

The Casita trailer bathroom, although small, is well apportioned. It contains all the necessities including a toilet, a shower, a sink, and a cabinet. The cabinet is water-proof and a great place to store your toilet paper and holding tank chemicals. There is an additional cabinet to keep your toilet paper dry.

The Casita Deluxe bathroom comes standard with the Aqua Magic pedal-flush toilet. Pedal flush toilet is an advantage because, when you flush, you aren’t bending over the toilet like you would with a hand-flush toilet.

The sink is very small, but large enough to wash your hands. The faucet is attached to a hose and shower wand that is mounted to the wall. A lever on the faucet allows you to change the direction of the water from the faucet to the shower head.

The Casita Deluxe comes with a propane hot water heater so that you can take a hot shower. If you purchase a new Casita trailer, the light will be conveniently located on the vent fan. In older models (earlier than 2020) there is a small light next to the toilet.

Bathroom Design

Casita travel trailers are molded fiberglass in design, and the bathroom is no exception. This one-piece molded fiberglass enclosure ensures that the shower doesn’t leak. In addition, there is a small window that allows for ventilation, especially when used in conjunction with the vent fan. The toilet area is large enough to allow for a reasonable amount of elbow room, which can be difficult to come by in some small travel trailers.

Bathroom Size

You might wonder, “how big is a Casita trailer bathroom?” The approximate size of a Casita trailer bathroom is 70″ H x 45″ L x 30″ W. Height is given at the tallest point of the bathroom as the roof is curved. In addition, there is a roof vent on the ceiling. The height from the roof vent to the floor pan is 67″. The dimensions of the shower pan are 23″ x 22″ and the toilet area measures at 24″ x 32″. Current Casita models, beginning with the 2013 model, have a small sink with a countertop. The countertop measures 9 3/4″ x 22″.

Wet vs Dry Bath

Casita travel trailers come with a wet bath. A wet bath is a bathroom where the shower and toilet are in the same enclosure. A dry bath is a bathroom where the toilet and shower are in separate enclosures. Most small trailers and RVs are equipped with a wet bath as a function of their size. The obvious advantage of the dry bath is that, when you shower, you don’t get the toilet wet. Still, a wet bath is quite common in small travel trailers and better, in my opinion, than no bathroom at all.

Black Water Tank vs Cassette Toilet

Most US-made travel trailers come equipped with a black water tank, and Casita trailers are no exception. Both a black water tank and a cassette hold all the flushed contents of your toilet, similar to a septic tank. The difference is the way you dispose of the contents.

With a black water tank, the primary method of disposal is into a septic system or sewer through a hose. You attach the hose to an outlet on the outside of your trailer and connect the hose to the septic system either at the campsite or a dump station.

In contrast, a cassette toilet is a holding tank that is removable from the trailer and can be dumped into any location that accepts human waste, including toilets, outhouses, or dump stations.

Conclusion

All in all, the Casita Travel Trailer bathroom is compact, yet convenient.
